What is peach? It’s a fine line between orange and light pink. Designers might argue, or I might be simplifying it a bit too much, but this “simplifying” helps in creating a better wardrobe; but hey, that’s just me.
Some would argue that peach is more of a light orange with reddish undertones. To make things more confusing, many would add that there are different shades of peach! But if it were up to me (and it is), I’d say it isn’t something to worry about. Let’s focus on the number of styles you can create after reading this article.
Polo + Pants = Casual and Relaxed
We’re all for that business-casual look. A peachy polo shirt paired with jeans, white dress pants, or khakis can be trendy and easy-to-style outfits for various occasions. Finish the look with a belt and a few simple accessories, and you’re good to go.
Don’t feel like tucking it in? Choose flowy or straight-legged trousers, and let it all hang out, baby. Now, with a baggier look like this, you’ll want to add some height. Opt for neutral-colored sandals or heels with just enough height to pop that booty out and get that elongated look.
Alternatively, a peach-colored blouse (a silk blouse works, too!) with crisp white jeans makes for a fresh and chic appearance.
Maxi or Midi?
A flowing, peach-colored maxi dress for another casual yet elegant look is a must-have for the tropics. On the other hand, it’s a romantic enough color to wear to weddings (that is, if you aren’t the bride, but ykwim). Honest opinion? Go with a satin one for a sexier and more elegant look.
The new world is no stranger to midi skirts. Combine a peach-toned midi skirt with a neutral top for a more balanced ensemble. If you’re feeling more bold, a red, yellow, or royal blue top should fit the bill. For an easy and simple look, white works every time.
Go Mono—As in, Monochromatic
Tricky, but not impossible. A monochromatic ensemble can be varying shades of the same color. In simpler terms, if your outfit is navy, other colors you can wear can be slightly different colors with hues that complement each other. Of course, going one-way with a single tone wouldn’t be so bad as well.
Look Warm, Stay Warm
On a bleak day, we all want to stay warm. It’s also not a bad idea to look warm. Opt for a cozy peach-colored sweater for a comfortable and stylish look during inevitably colder seasons.
Save Them Peaches for Bottoms
When we think about embodying the color of the year, the tendency is to put all the focus on the top areas. Dare to be different with the bases! Trust. Your bottom is going to look just as peachy.
A Peachy Poppin’ Statement
Clothes don’t have to make all the statements. Add pops of peach with accessories like scarves, handbags, shoes, or jewelry (even socks!) to accentuate neutral outfits.
Some For the Gents, Too
Celebrating the color of the year wouldn’t be as fun if we didn’t include our male counterparts. Something warmer and something for the tropics and unlike those all-black and all-white shirts we see them wear. And let’s be honest, we all love a little matchy-matchy outfit session every here and now.
You know the saying (well, obviously, you do), “Real men wear pink”? Throw that saying out the window. This year, men don’t have to prove they’re “real”; they really only have to get in the “peach” hype and we’ll love them for it. Men can also opt to go monochromatic or play with prints and other colors.
Now, don’t get me wrong. You might want to play it safe and match those peach tones with neutral ones. But the fashion world is your oyster! With the right shade, peach can, too, harmonize with colors that will surprise you. Colors like soft teal blues, rich reds, darker browns and burgundies, even with sunny yellows and minty greens.
It’s a sign: Go nuts with peaches.
