Tucked away in Lahug, Cebu City, the family-run business Dad’s Organic Farm is home to products with their seminal main ingredient: honey.
At its heart, the farm is built around its star ingredient: pure, unadulterated honey. Every bottle is hive-to-table, never pasteurized or mixed with additives, ensuring that customers get honey in its most natural, nutrient-rich form. But honey isn’t the only thing they’re known for—Dad’s Organic Farm has also gained popularity for its honey by-products, including beeswax lip balms, soaps, and aromatic candles.
According to Isan De Jesus, their Honey Lemongrass Soap and Honey Vanilla Beeswax Candle are among their bestsellers. “These products really resonate with customers because they showcase honey’s natural benefits beyond just being a sweetener,” she shares.
A Business Rooted in Passion and Sustainability
What began as a backyard experiment in 2009 has since blossomed into a thriving enterprise. Yoyie and Jojo, inspired by their father’s love for nature, saw an opportunity to introduce high-quality honey to the Cebu market. They understood how important bees are to the world, particularly when it comes to the food supply.
“[Mom and Dad] saw it as an untapped market—no one was consistently supplying pure honey to Cebuanos back then. Mainly because it was not sustainable unless you had a lot of hives under your care,” explains Isan, who, alongside her older sister Timmy, manages the farm’s partnerships.
“My parents initially started with two hives in our backyard in Lahug.” Isan continues. “Fast-forward to today, our practice of ethical, manual and clean beekeeping has led us to caring for 150 hives across Visayas and some parts of Luzon.”
Scaling with Purpose, Not Just Growth
The potential Yoyie and Jojo saw proved to be true; their passion project became a profitable venture. And the business is only expanding.
While their business has flourished, the De Jesus family isn’t chasing industry dominance. “We don’t need to eventually become the biggest honey supplier in the Philippines,” says Isan. Instead, their focus remains on providing high-quality, nutritious honey for those looking to live a healthier lifestyle.
“We want our brand to scale in a way that is not only sustainable, but also adheres to our family’s shared value around producing and creating with intentionality at the forefront.”
For those who love a spa-like experience, Dad’s Organic Farm has recently reintroduced its virgin coconut oil-based body oils. Their signature honey is also available at all Prutasan ni Adan branches, making it even easier for Cebuanos to get their hands on a jar of golden goodness.
More Than a Business—An Educational Mission
Beyond selling honey, Dad’s Organic Farm is on a mission to educate and inspire. They regularly hold beekeeping seminars, partnering with Cebu Plant Company to teach aspiring beekeepers the importance of maintaining bee colonies and how to care for them ethically.
When asked what she wants people to think of when they hear Dad’s Organic Farm, Isan’s answer was refreshingly simple: “Their honey is sooo good!”
