Pancakes have been considered a breakfast staple since time immemorial to the point where different cultures around the world have their own savory and sweet versions of it to grace the most important meal of the day. Whether it’s with egg and meat or with sugar and berries, pancakes have become a classic reminder of how good it is to wake up early in the morning. For Fuwari Pancake Station, they have taken this love for pancakes to a whole ‘nother level.
Fuwari’s humble beginnings started fairly recently when they opened their first branch in November of last year in SM Seaside Cebu City. Fuwari’s pancake station Manager, Mr. Yamato Kato, enthusiastically talked about how they wanted to explore and put a primary focus on elevating the traditional Japanese main course and hopefully be remembered by the Cebuanos for their dedication to perfecting the craft. They strive to be the best in the neighborhood when it comes to pancakes by providing excellent service, friendly hospitality, and building a community that is embedded in the heart of their business.
When we think of pancakes, we envision the usual flat ones smothered in butter and syrup. Fuwari Pancake Station serves fluffy, thick, and flavor-packed pancakes that are filling enough to make you go for another round. They have a wide array of extravagant flavors that will perfectly satisfy your every craving.
Fuwari’s bestsellers include the Creme Brulee, a caramelized toffee flavor with a custard sauce; Tiramisu Cream, a chocolate heaven alongside a creamy and milky mascarpone; and the Mango Avalanche.
One of my favorites was their presentation of the Mango Avalanche, worthy of its namesake; they would fill up mango chunks to the brim of a plastic container right on top of the pancake that you would have to lift up and unravel its decadent goodness yourself. Of course, with a rich mango syrup by the side, you couldn’t just get enough of Mango!
Outside of the main star of the show, their menu includes refreshers and caffeinated drinks that pair well with every pancake’s quirk. If you’re looking for something easy to take on the go, the Sando Pancakes are a great choice. Filled with authentic Japanese red bean paste and whipped cream, these fluffy pancake sandwiches make for the perfect snack when you’re out and about.
For those not typically in the mood for something sweet, Fuwari also offers a tender burger steak topped with zesty Ponzu sauce and grated radish with a side of fries. With the Breakfast Pancakes menu, you’re looking at something sweet and savory—the same cloud-like pancakes paired with fries on the side and a savory classic of your choice: Japanese fried chicken, bacon and egg, or sausage and egg. I don’t know about you, but that’s definitely one of the best ways to eat a pancake.
They also revealed a new addition to their menu that they plan to launch soon that mainly comprises fruit toppings with a jiggly sweet pancake base. So head on out and try a creative and modern twist of Japanese pancakes unlike you’ve ever seen before. The good thing about Fuwari Pancake House is that you don’t have to be on time for breakfast, as they serve pancakes for every hour of the day just to fulfill everybody’s appetite for guilt-free carbs on a budget.
If you’re looking to dine in, maybe go out on a pancake date, visit Fuwari Pancake Station on the Upper Ground Floor on the Mountain Wing of SM Seaside Cebu City. Fuwari also has another branch for takeouts and deliveries located in Apas, Cebu open from 11AM to 1AM, with more options such as rice bowls and bento boxes—and, of course, more fluffy pancakes.
