There’s an obvious resurgence of curiosity in vintage clothes right now — mostly among younger generations and partly because thrifting is a good way to play around with (mostly) branded clothing items without spending too much. Collaborations and pop-up markets are, well, popping up everywhere and they’re getting hard to ignore.
But what makes Voulez Vous interesting when there are several flea markets just like it?
Well, it’s run by teenagers.
Inspiration behind VV
Inspired by similar pop-ups in Manila, founders Audrey Uy and Zoey Voisin created Voulez Vous to not just offer a place to shop but to give locals a chance to discover themselves and immerse themselves in the city’s culture.
It’s no secret that teenagers thrive at playing dress up. Believe us, we’re as guilty as you are. And Zoey and Audrey seem to have found the best deal — they get to doll up and support the community.
“We wanted to bring that to Cebuanos and be a pioneer in bringing brands from different origins through elevated pop-ups.” —Audrey Uy, Voulez Vous
As believers in slow fashion, the 16-and-17-year-old entrepreneurs loved the idea of sustainable fashion and supporting local businesses while bringing high-quality products to the consumers.
VV: WAREHOUSE
Featuring the best of Cebu, Manila, Davao, and Bacolod, the second iteration of Voulez vous VV: Warehouse captures an experience made for everyone. With a wide array of curated products ranging from vintage fashion, local designers, accessories, and more, visitors can surely take their time and find the style that speaks to them.
Participating brands included: Papi Thrifts, Gal Studios, Ice Monkees, Venus Vintage, Native Street Cult, The New Millennial, Look Like Lance, Modern Playground, Orphic, Gaia, Vintage Party, Alofa, Vivy, Grake Club, Le Scarpe, ALLSZNDRIP, Best Thrifts, Bumi and Ashe, Rilooks Vendage, The Good Cup, Gimme The Loot, Son of Adam, Cebu Poprint, Gariad Fashions, Malaya Club, Nouel The Label.
It can be recalled that Voulez Vous had its first pop-up last April 13-14 recently at The Playground in Crossroads, Banilad. When asked about the difference between the first pop-ups and the recently concluded one, Zoey and Audrey had this to say:
“The main difference is the larger array of brands we have to offer. All of our events are always curated with love and genuine interest in every brand we feature. We still have the same cozy atmosphere, brands flying in from different town, the same values. But we make sure to always innovate and create new themes and concepts with each event. We switch up our vendors each time to keep it fresh and let our customers discover new things! It’s the same person, different outfit.” —Zoey and Audrey, Voulez Vous
Overall, Voulezvous had a successful event last September 7-8, 2024 at the Base Line Center, Juana Osmeña St. leaving shoppers satisfied with their cute and chic grabs from the flea market. And with the thrift world on their shoulders, there’s nothing these two teens can’t do.
