To Infinity and Onward—The Chef Duo That’s Changing Up Cebu’s Coffee Culture

For the caffeine-driven Cebuanos out there.

Rumor has it that there’s a new spot causing a stir in the local coffee culture. Considering today’s inevitable need to stray away shortly from the city’s hustle and bustle, we’re more than ready to give it a try!

With their specialty coffee sourced from all over the world, Onward Coffee is poised to redefine what it actually means to enjoy a cup of coffee. So whether you’re a coffee connoisseur or just in need of a pick-me-up, this new gem in Lahug, Cebu, will satisfy your daily dose.

After discovering the various flavor notes of specialty coffee, contrary to the belief of it merely being ‘bitter’, the founders Ryan and Anne Ong Yiu wanted to share them with the Cebuanos. Hence, birthing Onward Coffee.

With their globally sourced coffee ingredients, they take pride in offering quality products in their purest sophistication.

Sip, Savor, Customize

One of the many things that make Onward Coffee stand out in the local coffee scene is its fervor in catering to its customers’ ever-changing palates. They offer customizable espresso-based drinks to suit every taste—whether you lean towards the decadent notes of chocolates and nuts or subtle hints of fruit.

“We are proud and confident in our main ingredients that whatever you change or tweak with it, it’s still going to be good,” co-founder Anne Ong Yiu explains.

Meanwhile, customers who want a sweet caffeine fix may enjoy their version of mocha, priced at 200 Php per cup. They also recommend having a latte paired with homemade vanilla syrup, which is a non-menu selection but definitely worth a shot.

To add another layer of sugar rush, their menu of premium pastries is perfect to either start or end the day. These include Baking Bad or vegan bars priced at 160 Php, Egg Tarts at 70 Php, Pain au Chocolat at 130 Php, Plain Croissant at 100 Php, and more.

If you’re wondering what their best-selling pastry is, it’s their unique-flavored and locally sourced cookies, known for their generous size. So run, don’t walk—there’s a high chance of selling out.

Those who opt for that caffeine kick will enjoy their best-selling pour-over selection, acquired from different countries like Spain, Japan, and beyond. Priced around 190 Php to 650 Php, these meticulously crafted roasters offer an array of flavor profiles from across the globe, all in one place.

Of course, non-coffee drinkers have warm seats to settle in. Their non-coffee selection includes healthy soda-like beverages such as Chamomile Fizz, Passion Fruit Fizz, and Strawberry Soda.

What Lies Onward

Curious about the cafe’s culinary offerings? This is something you may want to look forward to. Drawing on their shared culinary experience, co-founders Ryan and Anne are set to elevate their menu to new heights.

In addition to expanding menu options, this includes our furry friends. To further the owners’ vision of fostering community over coffee, they aim to include your pets in the conversation and offer pet-friendly treats. Worry not; a four-legged connoisseur awaits their arrival in the cafe—Penné.

This is surely an experience you’d regret missing out on. Visit Onward Coffee and discover a new way to savor your favorite brew.
