Why Kamp Craft Coffee and Roastery Feels Like a Mini Getaway

Are you stuck in a creative rut?

This fresh new café in the middle of the city is bound to fuel your creative juices. Kamp Craft Coffee and Roastery just had its grand opening last October 18 and is ready to serve you a piping hot dose of great coffee and inspiring vibes. Whether you’re looking for a fun new hangout with friends or a different ambiance to work in, this new spot is here for you.

Kamping away from the noise

Kamp takes multiple inspirations, but camping is at the heart of it. We camp to get away from the everyday grind and have a great time with friends away from all the city’s noise. Except with Kamp, you’re right in the middle of it — bonding over coffee instead of campfires.

“At the center of every camp, there’s a campfire. That’s where people gather. For us, that’s our coffee,” says Tristan Jacalan, founder of Kamp Craft Coffee and Roastery.

Coffee meets ‘Currents’

When you enter Kamp Craft Coffee and Roastery, you can’t help but feel inspired by its vibrant design and curated playlist. “My inspiration is the Tame Impala album Currents. It’s a big inspiration in my life, and I want to apply those here,” shares Tristan.

Compared to Tame Impala’s earlier rock sound, Currents came as a surprise — a pop album that mixed unlikely elements but worked beautifully. “The whole album was a mix of sounds that really shouldn’t work, but it does. I’d like to think that Kamp and the way we designed it is a mix and match of random things that really shouldn’t be working together, but actually turned out well,” Tristan adds.

Sure enough, the combination of vibrant lights, custom acrylics, and wood-and-metal cladding somehow comes together to create a warm and cozy space to chat with friends or create something new.

When was the last time you took a sip of coffee and thought about something new? Kamp wants to be that kind of space — one where you can have fun and explore coffee in fresh ways.

“I always try to visit coffee shops and learn something new about coffee. Every time I visit, it’s nice to hear baristas and people share what they know. I want Kamp to be a place where you can come in and maybe discover a new side of coffee you’ve never tried before,” Tristan shares.

Cebu has a rich coffee culture, and Kamp aims to be part of that conversation — a relaxed coffee shop where coffee is fun, ever-changing, and always worth rediscovering.

Quirky sips ahead

Beyond the usual lattes and Americanos, Kamp has a bunch of quirky recommendations for you. “My personal fave is the C&T. It’s our take on the coffee and tonic. It’s really refreshing — a drink that doesn’t taste like coffee. It’s almost a mocktail. We do it simple here. We don’t add syrups; we just let the coffee do the work. We encourage people to try it if they haven’t had that kind of coffee before,” says Tristan.

They’ve also got new drinks coming soon, like sea salt lattes, matcha, and nitro cold brew. “Just a sneak peek — we’re going to have a banana-based drink,” Tristan teases. You’re definitely in for a quirky exploration.

More than just beverages and treats, this roastery will soon offer its own beans. “We want to contribute to the coffee industry in the Philippines. The Philippines is a coffee-producing country, but we’re not yet on the global map. Hopefully, with our roastery and our beans, we can help change that. That’s the game plan,” Tristan says.

Find your people, find your Kamp

“When they leave, I just want them to be happy and feel like they’re part of a community — like they just walked into a new kamp, a new community they can belong to,” Tristan shares.
