Saying that 2020 was a memorable year for everyone is an understatement. While it did bring a lot of negativity in the wind, which shook the world at lengths unimaginable at that time, it did force the creative juices out of many. Amidst the challenges of the pandemic, many of us dreamed of traveling again, especially with our passports and pieces of luggage gathering dust and cobwebs.
It’s no surprise that during that time, a group of dreamers envisioned a serene camping adventure far removed from the hustle and bustle dictated by timelines and itineraries. This idea gave birth to Carvel Philippines, a venture to bring the joy of camping to locals and foreigners.
“It began as an idea during the pandemic. We were contemplating how to transform the solitude of lockdown into serenity. Observing the growing love for camping, we thought it would be a great adventure to embark on,” says Jel-an Moira Servas-Canda, Chief Finance Officer of Carvel Philippines.
At the heart of Carvel Philippines is the Cruiserene, a Suzuki Carry 2023 model, currently the sole unit available for rent. At the crux of functionality comfort is this versatile campervan featuring a convertible living/dining area, a pop-up shower, a mini kitchen with tap and drinking water, a portable washing machine, a portable toilet, and two bidets outside. Indeed big things come in small packages as this camper van surprisingly provides ample storage space for your daily essentials and more, ensuring comfort away from home.
Unlike typical travel where you have to hop on and hop off several vehicles, the best thing about the Cruiserene is having the freedom to choose any destination in Cebu and its neighboring islands. Although a few restrictions are in place depending on the route, it doesn’t necessarily dampen the journey. These are in place to keep safety measures for a seamless excursion wherever your travels take you sans the misadventures.
And the fun doesn’t stop there. Carvel Philippines invites you to open up the possibilities as the Cruiserene isn’t limited to a specific type of trip; it can be suited for different types of occasions and life milestones. From prenup photoshoots to surprise proposals, this campervan has witnessed countless memorable moments.
As if that’s not enough, it has also proven to be child-friendly, too! They say vacation without kids is just parenting in a different location. But that may not be the case when you go on the Cruiserene. “We’ve been camping since Day 1 with a child, and it has already been rented out for a 2nd birthday celebration camp,” shares Jel-an. Carvel Philippines has thought through what it takes to adventure with children by providing a curated list of recommended locations and campsites suitable for families traveling with kids.
The journey from idea to reality for Carvel Philippines took a lot of turns and detours. The team, with an architect and engineer on board to their advantage, dedicated themselves to meticulous planning, research, and execution. This dedication is evident from the conception to the creation of a campervan with every side and corner designed and checked for everyone’s safety and comfort on the road.
As for the future, Carvel Philippines clues us in on exciting plans that are currently under wraps. “We have many plans for the future of Carvel. We cannot disclose them just yet, but it is truly something to look forward to. Buuut let me ask you this: How would you like to live in a campervan in an area where your neighbors are your fellow campers?”, Jel-an eagerly hints. Talk about life on the road, literally!
So the next time you hear the word “travel”, may you reimagine its every meaning into your new definition after an experience with Carvel Philippines’ flagship offering, the Cruiserene. Transcend traditional accommodations and experience the beauty of Cebu and its neighboring islands uniquely.
