You’ve probably seen them on every Cebu itinerary. You may have even wondered, “Is this actually worth going to?” Our answer? Yes. Go for it.
Some Cebu attractions are popular because they’re genuinely worth the hype. They’re easy to recommend, fun to experience, and give you a pretty good introduction to what makes Cebu special. So, if you’re looking for places that are touristy, well-loved, and still worth adding to your itinerary, here are a few you can go to:
1. Canyoneering in Badian
If you’re in Cebu for an adventure, canyoneering in Badian is highly recommended.
The experience takes you through rivers, canyons, rock formations and waterfalls, with plenty of swimming, climbing and, for the brave, cliff jumping along the way. It’s an active way to experience Cebu’s natural landscape rather than simply stopping by to look at it.
And yes, it’s a popular tourist activity. That’s because it’s really fun.
Go for it if: You’re up for an adventure and want one of the more memorable experiences Cebu has to offer.

2. National Museum of the Philippines – Cebu
You might expect a museum visit to be a quick stop, but the National Museum of the Philippines – Cebu is surprisingly expansive and diverse.
Inside, you’ll find exhibits covering Cebu’s history, culture, art, and natural heritage. There’s even a section highlighting animals and biodiversity found in Cebu, making the experience more varied than simply looking at historical artifacts.
It’s also a nice option when you want to take a break from the heat and spend a few hours somewhere air-conditioned while actually learning something about the place you’re visiting.
And before you leave, don’t skip the souvenir shop. There are plenty of locally inspired items that make for much better take-home memories than another generic fridge magnet.
Go for it if: You want to understand Cebu beyond its beaches and waterfalls, and maybe pick up a souvenir while you’re at it.

3. Casa Gorordo Museum
Casa Gorordo offers a completely different pace.
This heritage house is intimate and easy to explore, making it a nice stop if you want to spend an hour or two simply walking through the rooms, looking at the details and learning about Cebu’s history.
And because it’s right in the city, it’s particularly convenient for visitors staying around Cebu City. You can easily fit it into a day of exploring without committing to a long drive outside the city.
Better yet, you can make an afternoon of it: walk around, learn a little history, then stop for coffee.
Go for it if: You enjoy heritage houses, history, and slower experiences, especially if you’re staying in Cebu City.

4. TOPS Cebu
You’ve probably seen the photos.
TOPS is one of those Cebu attractions where the view is very much the main event, and honestly, there’s a reason everyone keeps taking pictures of it. Up in the hills overlooking Cebu City, you get sweeping views of the city and surrounding areas, particularly beautiful around sunset and after dark when the lights start coming on.
But don’t think of TOPS as just a viewpoint.
There are also plenty of food and dining options around the area, so you can turn a quick sightseeing stop into an evening out. Grab something to eat, enjoy the cooler mountain air, take in the view, and stay awhile.
Go for it if: You want a scenic evening that combines sightseeing, food and a little time away from the city streets.

5. Cebu Safari and Adventure Park
Cebu Safari and Adventure Park is widely considered the largest zoological and safari park in the Philippines, and there’s plenty to see across the property. It’s especially popular with families, but you don’t have to be traveling with kids to enjoy spending the day here.
And if you want to make the experience even bigger, you can actually stay overnight.
The park has cabin villas where you can spend the night surrounded by the atmosphere of the safari park. That means you don’t necessarily have to rush back to Cebu City after exploring the attractions.
Go for it if: You have the time for a full-day experience or want to turn your visit into an overnight adventure.

6. House of Lechon
If you pull up to the House of Lechon and see a tourist van unloading a group of visitors, don’t be surprised. Actually, take it as a sign.
Lechon is one of the foods Cebu is known for, and House of Lechon has become a go-to stop for visitors who want to try it. With several branches around Cebu, it’s also convenient to add to an itinerary whether you’re exploring Cebu City or heading around the metro.
And this is one tourist attraction where the reason for its popularity is pretty straightforward: you came to Cebu, so you should eat Cebuano food. Try the lechon, order a few Filipino dishes for the table, and don’t overthink it.
Sometimes the most touristy food stops are touristy for a very good reason.
Go for it if: You want to eat your way through Cebu and consider food an essential part of the trip.
Sometimes, the Tourist Trap Is Worth Getting Caught In
Not every worthwhile Cebu experience has to be a secret.
Some places are popular because they’re convenient, memorable, beautiful, delicious, or simply because they deliver exactly what visitors are looking for.
So the next time you see a Cebu itinerary featuring Badian canyoneering, the National Museum, Casa Gorordo, TOPS, Cebu Safari or House of Lechon, you don’t have to think, “That’s too touristy.”
Maybe that’s the point. If thousands of visitors keep making the trip, there might just be a good reason to join them.
