Thank God it’s Friday! We have another reason to celebrate the weekend—it’s International Beer Day! Therefore, it’s our responsibility to grab a bottle or two at our favorite watering holes.
Of course, everyone has their own preference—whether it be a favorite beer or favorite bar. In the past years, though, the burgeoning craft beer scene has made even the most beer-averse party-goer reach for an IPA. We might have a bit more to go when it comes to microbreweries and pubs. But we’re certainly not complaining about us hop-ping in the right direction.
Still don’t know where you’re heading off to tonight? We’ve got a few suggestions. These spots are some of our favorites to relax and unwind after the work week. Of course, the fact that they serve some great craft beers doesn’t hurt either.
Turning Wheels
With its al fresco dining area and an adorable in-house doggo, Turning Wheels is a great place to chill in the late afternoons. They also have a great selection of beers on rotation, so you can find the brew for you whatever you might be in the mood for. The Mountain King IPA is one of our favorites, but more recently the Rippin’ Red Ale is giving it a run for its money. Bonus points: you can enjoy the delicious tacos and chili dogs from Sal’s Kusina next door.

Drip and Draft
Yes, this is one spot we frequent in the mornings too. But when the sun goes down, we like to switch up our caffeine for a craft beer, and Drip and Draft offers really good ones on tap. Aside from carrying brews from Turning Wheels as well, the establishment also offers drinks from Bauhinia Brewery, another homegrown brand we love. Plus, we love the plush leather seating and relaxed vibe, as well as the delicious menu items—there are cocktails too if you don’t feel like grabbing a beer.
Drip and Draft is located at Streetscape Mall, Paseo Saturnino, Banilad, Cebu City. They are open on Mondays from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM, and Tuesdays to Sundays from 6:30 AM to 11:00 PM. Follow them on Facebook and Instagram.
Draft Punk
A lot of our weekends have started off at Draft Punk, especially because they offer so much more than just craft beer. It’s one of the best stops to listen to music from the city’s best acts, and their food is also particularly noteworthy. The drinks, of course, do keep us coming. They have a good selection of beers available, and even carry the premium Barik Supremo Lambanog.
