Celebrate Taco Tuesday at Home With Our Takeout Picks

Yes, it’s Taco Tuesday—and just because we’re staying at home, it doesn’t mean we want to miss out.

Cebu is lucky enough to have a good number of places to choose from come Taco Tuesday. It ranges from the gourmet, like the Lechon Cebu Tacos from Enye that we think about a lot, to the simple but comforting familiarity of the Pancake House taco order. Whatever your preference, you’re bound to find something that’s right for you.

Sure, there’s an MECQ ruling and a stay-at-home order. But that’s not about to dampen our cravings for this favorite Mexican treat.

Thankfully, a number of places offer their creations for takeout and delivery. This Taco Tuesday, the Keeta team is ready to take full advantage of this, and enjoy some of our favorite picks around the city—enjoyed safely from the comforts of home.

Sal’s Kusina

“I always thought part of the charm in Sal’s Kusina was in the setting. With its laidback set-up adjacent to Turning Wheels Brewery, the neighborhood appeal and free-flowing beer seemed to be that extra seasoning that supposedly made their tacos among the best in the city.

Now that I’ve enjoyed the Pork Pibil and Shrimp Tacos on my own dining table though, I realize it’s definitely not the case. Despite the motorcycle ride it took to get to me, the tacos were fresh and obviously delicious. I really don’t know what’s in their sauce, but the tangy and savory kick that comes with each bite definitely got me hungry for more. Good thing I can always order again.” – Shari Quimbo, Editor-in-Chief

Sal’s Kusina is open 3:00-8:30 PM on Tuesdays to Saturdays, and 4:00-8:30 PM on Sundays. You can order via their Instagram page, or 0998 994 6095.

Puesto

“Those who know me know my love for tacos; so much so that I use the emoji frequently, next to the star and musical note. I’m always on the lookout for a place I can add to my list of go-tos when it comes to tacos, whether I choose to enjoy it at the restaurant or at home.

I’ve only been introduced to Puesto Restaurant just recently. Its straightforward, no-frills vibe appealed to me. What completely sold me was its generous serving of its dishes, particularly the tacos. In a nutshell, it’s letting its dishes speak for itself. The baja shrimp and pork carnitas are definite must-tries.” – Monica Lopez, Managing Editor

Puesto is open 11:00 AM-10:30 PM on Mondays to Saturdays, and 11:00 AM-10:00 PM on Sundays. You can order through FoodPanda, GrabFood, Let’s Eat Bai, and Couch Potato PH.

TacoDon

“Tacos are one of my favorite dishes to fill that Mexican food craving. One that I’ve recently tried are TacoDon’s Carnitas Tacos. They’re so tasty and full of yummy, tender pork, you’d find me just inhaling taco after taco. Their customer service is also top-notch. The prompt response and friendly tone made it quick and easy for me to order my tacos, and have it delivered all the way to Liloan.

You should also definitely try their delicious Shrimp Tacos—another favorite. TacoDon also offers Chicken, Pork Belly, Veggie and Birria Tacos, all of which are surely equally delicious!” – Geraldine Sy, Art Director

LA Taco Truck

“As a film graduate, I have always dreamed about making it big in the Entertainment Capital of the world, Hollywood, Los Angeles. I get a piece of that experience whenever I order tacos from L.A. Taco Truck. When I bite into the juicy meat, the tasty spices, and fresh vegetables; my imagination goes wild. I think that I’m really in LA, working as a film crew being on a lunch rush before going back to set shooting the next big summer blockbuster movie!

I can only imagine the pink skies, the fresh breeze, and the big sign up on the mountain reminding you that you’ve made it. For now, in the middle of the pandemic, I’ll just keep on dreaming and keep having my tacos delivered to my house so we can stay indoors and save lives. Who knew trying to not make it to Hollywood, for now, would make me a contributor to a better, safer Cebu?” – Kong de Guzman, Technical Director

LA Taco Truck is open at Sugbo Mercado at 12:00-9:00 PM on Wednesdays to Sundays. You can order via Let’s Eat Bai.

Pinche Taqueria

“Growing up as a picky eater, I had only come to appreciate a good taco in the last few years. Pinche Taqueria definitely has no shortage of those, and their massive popularity within Cebu can attest to that.

While everyone loves Pinche’s signature birria tacos, their Cajun shrimp and Baja fish selections are some favorites you do not want to miss out on. Simple, satisfying and scrumptious, these tacos will convert even the fussiest of eaters, and have already earned a top spot on my go-to taco list.” – Bernice Quimbo, Editorial Assistant

Pinche Taqueria is open 10:45 AM-8:00 PM on Tuesdays to Thursdays, and 10:45 AM-9:00 PM on Fridays to Sundays. You can order via their Instagram page, through 0995 395 8920, or via FoodPanda.

La Lucha Taqueria

“Tacos are comfort food that you can have for any meal of the day. I prefer my tacos to be straightforward in a soft shell. A tried and true restaurant that doesn’t disappoint is La Lucha Taqueria. It definitely tops my list for go-to taco places in the city. I’ve been a loyal customer since I was in college.

It ticks off my criteria for good tacos: tortilla – check! (I’m very particular about the texture of the tortilla); proportion of ingredients – check; flavor – check; and affordability – big check! Plus, on Fridays, you get a free serving of horchata with your order.” – Janna Yuvallos, Editorial Assistant

La Lucha Taqueria is open from 9:00 AM-8:00 PM on Mondays to Saturdays, and 10:00 AM-8:00 PM on Sundays. You can order via their Facebook page, or through 0927 616 9061.
