This Superhero-themed Airbnb Takes Your Staycation To A Whole New Level

How far would you go to express your love for movies? I, for one, organized my debut to follow a Star Wars theme to show how much I love the franchise. My dress was inspired by Padmé’s lakeside gown.

Some people collect action figures, buy memorabilia, or simply binge-watch their favorite movie franchises over and over again. Architect Rodney Co, on the other hand, takes his love for movies to another level. His love letter to his favorite movie franchises was designing three themed townhouses. Although, he stumbled on the idea by accident.

Wondering what to do with the life-size Iron Man figure that his brother gifted him, he decided to display it in the basement of one of his townhouses listed on Airbnb.

Because of all the bookings and positive feedback he received, he decided to design the basement complete with a Marvel theme.

The basement is filled with Marvel memorabilia. You can put on the Infinity Gauntlet or take a photo with Captain America’s shield. You can also try wearing the masks of Iron Man, Captain America, or Black Panther.

His creativity and attention to detail are exuded in his work. When you walk into the Star Wars-themed basement, it feels as though you’re in a spaceship of the Imperial Navy. “I chose Star Wars ‘cause I’m a fan of Star Wars and for me, a Star Wars theme is a classic theme. Everyone loves Star Wars,” he told us as we descended the stairs of the unit. A life-size Stormtrooper guards the stairs, while Darth Vader and the Emperor’s Royal Guard guard the opposite side.

In the DC-themed townhouse, you’ll find a feeling of solitude, as if you were Batman himself in his command center. Architect Rodney designed the space to look like Bruce Wayne’s armory with a life-size Batman. You’ll also find a life-size Wonder Woman.

His interests don’t end with life-size statues of movie characters. “I’m a comic collector, so I designed this wall to be like a showcase of DC Comics,” he describes his display in the DC-themed basement.

Home theaters are set up in each basement, as well as PlayStations with stacks of games to play. Each townhouse has four bedrooms with an additional bed in the basement. All rooms come with a bathroom. The master’s bedroom has a spacious walk-in closet and the second floor with a study, but the feeling of luxury doesn’t end there. In the bathroom, you’ll find a hot tub. On the balcony, you can bask under the sun in a Jacuzzi. All houses have fully-equipped kitchens and laundry machines, making them perfect for longer stays.

Currently, Architect Rodney is working on a new themed house. Instead of only designing the basements in a theme, he’s planning to set the entire space to follow a theme. He envisions it to look like a secret base with each bedroom designed as a kind of bunker. You can expect to meet more life-size characters like The Hulk.

About Janna Rei Yuvallos

Janna is a night owl and a frustrated early bird. During her free time, you'll often find her drinking a cup of boba or eating a slice of cake. When she's at home, she likes to cuddle up with her Corgi, Luffy. Scrolling through cute dog photos is also a favorite past-time.
