NUSTAR Resort Cebu is opening a living gallery of Cebuano culinary heritage this July through Taste Cebu: Heirloom Culinary Gallery, a two-day event that traces the stories, traditions, and flavors behind the dishes that have defined Cebu’s food culture for generations.
Happening on July 9 and 10, 2026, at the Grand Ballroom at NUSTAR Resort Cebu, the event takes guests through a gallery-style journey exploring the origins, evolution, and continuing transformation of Cebuano cuisine. Each session is a one-hour guided experience through themed galleries and tasting stations. Guests may choose from five time slots each day: 11:00 AM, 1:00 PM, 3:00 PM, 5:00 PM, and 7:00 PM.
The event is curated by Cebuano author and food historian Louella Theresa A. Eslao-Alix, bringing together food, history, and storytelling in a format that goes beyond the meal itself.
The experience begins in the Listening Room, where guests are grounded in the stories and historical moments that shaped Cebuano cuisine. From there, four themed galleries take them through different chapters of Cebu’s culinary story — from its roots and home-kitchen traditions to fiesta culture and modern takes on Cebuano food. Each gallery is paired with tastings that bring the narrative to life.
Beyond the experience itself, the event also supports a meaningful cause. Proceeds benefit the Cebu Food Bank through Universal Cultural Foundation, Inc. (UCFI), NUSTAR’s social responsibility arm.
