The Bakery Boutique Might Be Changing Cebu’s Pasalubong Game

The Bakery Boutique is Cebu’s ultimate sweet spot, blending nostalgic flavors with modern twists—starting with their famous Milk Cheese Donuts, which took the city by storm. Founded by hotelier-turned-baker Joan Zanoria, this boutique is all about reinventing classic flavors and keeping dessert lovers hooked with fresh, new creations.

“The idea for our Milk Cheese Donuts began when my sister-in-law was making fried donuts filled with cheese,” Joan recalls. “I suggested shaping them like pillows, filling them with cheese, and coating them with milk powder.” That simple idea quickly turned into a viral sensation, sparking the success of The Bakery Boutique. Since then, their Milk Cheese Donuts have become a beloved favorite.

Joan’s hotel industry experience shapes The Bakery Boutique’s high standards of customer service, food safety management, and quality control. “This background helps us provide not just delicious products but also a professional and customer-centric experience,” she points out.

Now, The Bakery Boutique is riding the next big wave in the dessert world. With the Dubai chocolate craze in full swing, they’re bringing even more irresistible, chocolatey goodness to the table.

Aside from their signature Pistachio Chocolate and Buiscoff Chocolate, The Bakery Boutique keeps things exciting with bold flavors like Ube Kasoy, Double Chocolate, and Almond Mint. They also switch things up with Strawberry Cashew, Peanut Butter and Banana, and Mango Rice Crisps Cashew.

Interestingly, their chunky chocolate bars are reminiscent of Filipino ice cream flavors. The mix of innovation and nostalgia is a unique approach that allows them to craft new treats, blending global dessert trends with familiar, homegrown flavors to keep them ahead of the game.

Innovation is at the heart of everything The Bakery Boutique does. “We focus on creativity while staying in tune with trending flavors. We also incorporate a Filipino touch by using locally-made ingredients, ensuring that our products reflect our rich culinary heritage,” Joan shares.

They don’t just stop at donuts and chocolates. Their Magnum Drinks—yes, like the ice cream—are coated in chocolate so you can crack them before sipping. They also have rich, flavorful nut butters, including Pistachio Cream, Peanut Butter, Almond Butter, and Cashew Butter. Spread it, drizzle it, eat it straight from the jar, or use it to make your own Dubai-inspired chocolate!

After five years, The Bakery Boutique is ready to open its first physical store, aiming to be the go-to pasalubong destination. “This new space will allow us to serve freshly made Milk Cheese Donuts right in front of our customers, alongside our handcrafted drinks and specialty dishes inspired by regional flavors from across the Philippines,” Joan says. Customers can also take home the brand’s Chunky Chocolates and Salted Egg Potato Chips.

For now, you can visit The Bakery Boutique’s pop-up cafe on the 4th Level of Ayala Central Bloc. And just in time for Valentine’s Day, they’re wrapping up their Milk Cheese Donuts and Chunky Chocolates in the sweetest way. Think heart-shaped doilies, red and pink ribbons, and adorable gift tags.
