Here are Ways to Unplug Around the Holidays

One of the things we all look forward to around the Holidays is getting to spend it with your family and friends—plus the gifts.

Although it is the start of your break, ask yourself, are you ready for it?

There could be some unfinished agendas or appointments you need to work on, some last minute Christmas shopping, meetings and deadlines—it might be a lot.

The last thing you want is to work while taking a break, so here are ways to unwind around the Holidays.

Create a Timeline

It’s always important to get things done, and the sooner you do it, the better. First, make a to-do list, and prioritize those that require your utmost attention.

While some find making lists encouraging, others find them overwhelming. Days before the start of your Christmas break, complete several tasks but don’t cram too much in one day so you’ll execute each one of them correctly. Take breaks in between so you can recharge.

Get Everything Done in Time for the Christmas Break

Whether related to school or work, it is imperative to finish everything needed to get done. More than feeling a sense of victory, it prevents you from worrying in the days to come. Christmas is about spending time with the family, among others. Though you are physically present, it will not matter if you are mentally absent.

Procrastinating is a bad habit that every person needs to stop doing. How it goes is even if you are delaying the work by turning your attention to a recreational activity—like watching television—that nagging feeling will not go away, no matter how entertaining the show may be, unless you get to it. Ultimately, you will not be able to enjoy the show.

Spend Less Time Online and Live in the Moment

Even though the internet comes with perks, let us face it, it is distracting. It takes you away from what is happening in front of you.

Your gadgets do not just give you access to your work but also to the world. Try to spend less time looking at your screen. Instead, focus on the ones you are spending the holidays with.

Time is precious. Spend it wisely.
