Looking to update your closet with some cuter colors and comfier cuts? Maybe dress up your living spaces with some cute pastels and bunnies? If you just want a little more color in your life, Rookie Rabbit is definitely worth a stop on your next shopping excursion.
The brand was founded by Izabella Sy in June 2020, and inspired by the growing tie-dye trend on the internet during the pandemic. Since completing a degree in business supply and logistics abroad in 2018, Izabella had begun, and currently still is, working for the family business full-time. But in a few short years, while the world twiddled its thumbs in quarantine, she started Rookie Rabbit as something she could do on the side, on her own.
Rookie Rabbit’s collections, ranging from coffee mugs and other knick knacks, to accessories and clothing, are a reflection of Iza’s style and tastes. “It’s everything that I personally would wear, and things that I personally would like.” That’s not to say that they don’t have a wide variety of apparel: Rookie Rabbit has released shirts, sweaters, hats and even coordinated sets, so you can add some more color to your look, no matter what kind of style you’re going for. Each piece is also hand dyed so no two are exactly alike. “I think our brand really represents individuality, kind of showcasing how we’re all different, and we’re all colorful in our own way.”
The brand is more than just its cute and colorful merchandise, though those are undoubtedly in abundance— it’s also an homage to Iza’s pet bunny, Roo. “Rookie is one of [her] many nicknames,” she shares, “and I was so inspired to make a brand about her. She made me feel so much joy that I wanted to share it in some way or form with everyone around— and I thought what better way to do it than with color!”
Since the brand first launched, Iza says life is definitely a lot busier now, but also admits that the sight of someone in Rookie gear never stops being rewarding. The eponymous Rookie has since passed away, but is in a sense, immortalized in this still-growing tribute. “It’s also made my life more meaningful, especially now that my bunny has passed. It inspires me to continue her legacy through the brand.”
“Our brand really represents individuality, kind of showcasing how we’re all different, and we’re all colorful in our own way.”
In the near future, Iza is hoping to expand Rookie Rabbit’s reach and develop new lines. “I would love to branch out or pop up in more areas to reach more people,” she says. “Some dream collections would maybe be towards loungewear, more workout pieces, and maybe apparel for pets as well!”
Rookie Rabbit is located at the Ground Floor of the QC Pavilion, Gorordo Ave., Cebu City. Like and follow Rookie Rabbit on Facebook and Instagram for more information.
