In Cebu, where pet owners abound, “pet-friendly” signs have become a selling point for cafes and shops hoping to draw in more visitors.
But this pet care destination in Cebu I.T. Park need not put such a sign on its door. At Bow Appetit Cafe and Grooming, dogs are treated as customers, not mere companions, and they earn a seat at the table.
Co-owner Janice says this was always the point. “In this cafe, we want to make sure that they are pampered and loved,” she shared.
Flat Whites to Puppawccinos
Taking pet inclusivity to a whole new level, Bow Appetit has crafted separate menus for dogs and their owners.
On the Hooman Menu are coffee favorites like Espresso, Spanish Latte, Brown Sugar Cinnamon Latte, and Dirty Matcha Latte, served iced or hot, along with blended and refresher drinks for non-coffee drinkers. Pastries (Cinnamon Buns, Plain Brownies, and Plain Croissants) are also on hand for pairing.
While your pets sit across from you, or right beside you if you prefer, they can order from the Furbaby Menu, which features pet-safe cuisine.
“We actually made all the dishes with dogs’ diet in mind. They’re all safe—no spices, no sugar, no salt, nothing,” Janice emphasized.
Dogs can sip on healthy refreshers such as Ghost’s Americano Pour Over, made from bone broth for protein and joint health, or Watermelon Mint for hydration, digestion, and fresh breath.
For something heartier, there’s pasta and mini buns made with the cafe’s signature bone broth, lean ground pork and beef, and vegetables. And for dessert? Ice cream in Banana Bonanza, Berries & Cream, or Apple Tart; or chewy treats like Banana Bark Bites, Liverlicious Cookies, and Pawmkinin Bites.
Make It a Date, Not a Chore
Grooming day can be just another chore in a busy week, but Bow Appétit turns it into something both pets and owners can look forward to.
Since opening, Bow Appetit’s most popular grooming option has been the “All Out Blowout,” a full-service package that covers everything from washing and drying to haircut, ear cleaning, tooth brushing, and a spritz of their signature pet perfume to finish.
They also offer massages, nail trimming, and aftercare with products like shampoo bars, fur serums, and paw balms. The focus is always on gentle handling and quality products, so pets leave looking fresh and feeling their best.
When asked how they handle pets new to grooming, Janice highlighted their gradual approach to help pets acclimate to the process. “Our goal is to help furbabies feel at ease with professional grooming, so they associate it with comfort and care rather than stress,” she added.
Bow Appetit also offers safe fur staining for dogs, the first in Cebu to do so. The process works much like hair dyeing for humans, but is specially formulated to be pet-safe. For some, it’s a fun way to give their pets a little style upgrade without compromising safety.
